Sowing the seeds of a sustainable future
The quality of seeds is the most critical factor in maximising palm oil yields. Oil palms with high yield are good for business and for sustainability, as they mean less land is required to produce the same amount or more palm oil.
As an integrated seed-to-shelf agribusiness, Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) produces our own premium seeds to ensure genetic purity and reliable seed supply. Our subsidiary, Dami Mas Sejahtera, is the leading Dura x Pisifera (DxP) oil palm seed producer in Indonesia. The Dami Mas DxP seed delivers earlier and higher oil yield rates – traits highly desired by oil palm growers.
The latest innovations from our R&D team address the industry’s biggest challenges, from disease resilience to climate change. We develop these premium DxP seeds through stringent and robust breeding experiments, all conducted at our state-of-the-art SMART Biotechnology Centre. Our goal is clear: to provide more resilient and productive oil palm seeds that can secure the future of sustainable cultivation.

Great yields begin with a good start – Our superior seeds
We currently have three types of Dami Mas seeds – our original DxP Dami Mas seeds, the DxP Dami Mas IGR seeds, and our latest DxP Dami Mas MTK seeds.

Our original line of high yield seeds for cost‑effective production

Our advanced seed line offers moderate resistance to Ganoderma boninense (basal stem disease), boosting crop resilience and yield in challenging conditions

Our newest innovation, designed for resilience in a changing climate. Dami Mas MTK is Indonesia’s first ministry-approved intermediate drought tolerant seed. Developed through more than 1,800 mother palms tested, over 40,000 seedlings screened, and 120 hectares of trials, this seed is built on years of dedicated research.
- Delivers at least 12% higher yields during drought-affected periods compared with conventional seeds.
- Strengthens resilience against prolonged dry conditions, reducing income loss from climate impacts.
- Secures sustainability, helping growers maintain productivity even in water-stressed environments.
Shared strengths across all Dami Mas seed lines
- Adaptable to many agroecological conditions
- Less than 0.1% Dura contamination in fields
- Low risk of Chimera and crown disease in seedlings and mature palms
- Designed for a planting density of 136 palms per hectare for maximum yields

While the original DxP Dami Mas seed line excels at cost-effective production, our advanced seed line DxP Dami Mas IGR is even more resilient and productive under various agroecosystem conditions. In areas with Ganoderma, the performance of DxP Dami Mas IGR is 50% better than ordinary seeds. These seeds also have a lower chance of developing Chimera and crown disease, both in the nursery and out in the field. This new seed embodies our commitment to superior sustainable development in oil palm agriculture.

Dami Mas MTK delivers stronger yields when dry conditions strike. In extensive field trials, MTK seeds demonstrated at least 12% higher yields than standard varieties in drought conditions. These performance differences increase as conditions become more extreme. MTK seeds performed over 25% better than standard varieties during prolonged dry periods caused by El Niño in 2015 and the Indian Ocean Dipole in 2018.
This resilience helps growers maintain harvest stability, protect income, and adapt more confidently to climate variability — all backed by years of research and large-scale trials.
Pedigree
Cultivated from heirloom parent plants Deli dura (female) and Avros pisifera (male), through genetic mapping and stringent breeding, the pedigree of our Dami Mas DxP oil palm seeds can be traced back to 1922.
GAR’s premium seeds are products of innovation coupled with years of stringent research and development. These seeds are also shared with our plasma smallholders, so the work carried out is extremely important in laying the foundation for future generations of sustainable palm oil cultivation.
Our R&D team has also developed new planting materials through tissue culture – which are expected to have exceptionally high yield. More than 5 million clones of this revolutionary new planting material have been produced thus far. Once matured, Eka 1 and Eka 2 seedlings will increase palm oil yields to the highest levels in the industry without additional land use, cementing GAR’s legacy as a leader in sustainable oil palm production.
