Response by GAR regarding the decision of the Jakarta Corruption Court

16 March 2019 – Golden Agri-Resources acknowledges the findings of the Jakarta Corruption Court in the matter of three executives of PT Binasawit Abadipratama accused of bribery of government officials and hopes that this now draws a line under this unfortunate and regrettable incident.

GAR expects its Indonesian-based operations and subsidiaries to be managed in accordance with the law and regulations of the country.

The Jakarta Corruption court has decided that this incident reflects the actions of few individuals in breach of the state regulations and also GAR’s own code of conduct, a code subsidiaries are also expected to adhere to.

Since October 2018, GAR and its Indonesian subsidiary PT BAP have taken proactive steps to reinforce awareness of and compliance with the Code of Conduct through enhanced training and communication with staff.

GAR understands that as a result of the court decision, PT BAP will now take appropriate action in relation to the employment of those individuals involved in the case in line with Indonesian employment law.
